Chris Burger, CB, aka “Charlie Bravo”, is one of the two driving forces of the lyrical juggernaut known as Alphabet Soup. Dave ‘Davey D’ Cook is a nationally recognized journalist, adjunct professor at San Francisco State, Hip Hop historian, political commentator, syndicated talk show host, radio programmer, media justice and community activist. Davey D has been featured as an expert commentator in more than 35 documentaries and TV shows including; Letters to The President, Mac Dre, Beef, Thug Angel, American Gangster and the Award Winning PBS Rap City Rhapsody. Bay Area vocal powerhouse and baritone saxophonist, Sally Green formed her band, Sal’s Greenhouse to get the listeners shaking and showcase her more than considerable talents in an original music setting. Sal’s Greenhouse built an impressive body of original music with a varied blend of influences like Nikka Costa, Brand New Heavies, Sharon Jones, and many more, resulting in a completely unique and original funky and soulful sound that feels good and moves its fast growing audience. Solas B. Lalgee
Lalgee, a Richmond native and arts advocate, was nurtured by an art-based family. He attended the School of the Arts- San Francisco, Oakland Youth Chorus, and graduated from the Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. Lalgee’s credits include studying, working, and performing with Ledisi, Zendaya Coleman, Latoya London, Mooncandy live house music ensemble, Jennifer Johns, Valerie Troutt, Nicole Klaymoon, and The Embodiment Project. Musical Mayhem, marching band madness, and blow-out-the-windows muscial power is the hallmark of San Francisco’s most raucous and highly sought after new Orleans/Bay Area fusion band, the Brass mafia.
The Brass Mafia puts a strong emphasis on heavy backbeats, creative improvisation and a unique mix of songs and arrangements. They have been featured at events for SFJAZZ, SF Annual Mardi Gras Fat Tuesday Parade (7 years) and have collaborated with Lyrics Born, Thomas Dolby, Peter Rowan, and Nicki Bluhm. They’ve proven themselves a powerful and entertaining Marching Band as well as one of the best nightclub bands in the City – and their many sold out shows attest to it.
DJ Lady Fingaz
As the child of a musician some of Lady Fingaz earliest memories revolve around the stage, taking in her father’s gigs, and often sitting in to sing with the band. In 2004 Offbeat’s Best of the Beat Awards honored her with Best Emerging Hip-Hop Artist for her accomplishments throughout New Orleans. In 2006 Lady Fingaz joined the collective Females Wit Funk, which features the top female turntablists from around the world.
As a DJ, she mixes a variety of genres accompanied by an array of show stopping turntablism and live production this southern belle knows how to rock a party! Learn more.
MJ’s Brass Boppers

Attending a MJ’s Brass Boppers show is the next best thing to following a brass band down New Orleans’ famed Claiborne Ave. The swinging and singing brass-line is the Bay Area’s only New Orleans-style brass band whose founding members were born and raised in New Orleans itself.
This group’s sound has been meticulously formed over years of practicing and experimenting together, fusing classic high energy NOLA performance with funk, jazz, modern pop, with a second line rhythm and twist. Check out some sample grooves or learn more about the artists on their website.
Naima Shalhoub with Tarik Kazaleh

Naima Shalhoub and Tarik Kazaleh are Oakland-based Arab-American artists have been performing, creating and composing music together since 2012. Kazaleh is an MC, composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist who has toured throughout the Middle East, Europe and the United States.
Shalhoub is a vocalist, composer and musician who has toured Lebanon and throughout the United States. Collectively they have performed in jails, community centers, jazz clubs and concert halls all over the Bay Area with Shalhoub’s band, most notably for the release of “Live in San Francisco County Jail” recorded in 2015. They draw upon their Arab music traditions and American soul repertoire while experimenting with sound and lyric. Their next recorded collaboration involves Shalhoub’s full-length studio album with plans for release in 2019.

Based in Oakland, California – Bang Data is like California itself – built on Latin traditions, but deeply hybrid in expression. This beloved SF Bay Area based band – led by singer/emcee Deuce Eclipse who’s well known by hip-hop fans as an accompanying voice to the legendary Zion I, and producer/instrumentalist Caipo who has become a sought out name producing & mixing in the San Francisco music scene and abroad – they play cumbia, hip-hop and rock into a new language of sound for the people. Most known for their song placement of the self-titled track “Bang Data” from their album La Sopa” on AMC’s hit TV Drama ‘Breaking Bad’ Season 4, Episode titled ‘Salud’.
The ensemble released their third studio album LOCO in February of this year. But since the 2016 release of the Quiero Creedence – a Latin tribute album to legendary rock band Creedence Clearwater Revival – Bang Data has received a growing wave of attention, including from the legends CCR themselves! Gina Madrid formerly Raw-G, Born and raised in Guadalajara Mexico. She brings her own distinct cross-cultural, multi-lingual, politically charged Hip-Hop to the Bay Area music scene captivating audiences with her passionate and aggressive performances. Gina Madrid left Mexico and moved to Oakland California in 1999 where she learned english by translating Hip-Hop lyrics from 2pac, The Fugees, and KRS-1. She developed an engaging, insightful, social conscious flow that challenges our musical and gender preconceptions of Hip-Hop culture.
Gina Madrid has performed with artists such as Ghostface Killah, Mobb Deep, DJ Premier, KRS-One, Ozomatli, Royce Da 5’9, Ana Tojoux, La Mala, Natalia Lafourcade to name a few. She is definitely one the most exciting new MC’s to come out of Oakland California and an artist to keep an eye on. Her EP ‘Esperanza’ released July 14, 2015. El Kool Kyle has been an integral part of the east bay music scene since 1993. He is comfortable in the studio as a producer, on stage as an emcee or rockin a crowd with one of his DJ sets. His ability to combine Hiphop, Dancehall & Afro Latin music as a producer & DJ is just one of the things that makes him a local favorite.
In 2013, Celebrating 20 years of making music in the Bay Area, he co-founded Baylando Records, a new independent record label with a focus on modern urban indigenous dance music.

Led by composer/pianist, JooWan Kim, Hip-Hop Orchestra Ensemble Mik Nawooj (EMN) creates New Concert Music based on the musical materials of Hip-Hop and by sampling compatible classical compositional techniques. Executed with MCs/lyricists Do D.A.T. and Sandman, a lyric soprano, flute, clarinet, violin, cello, piano, drums and bass the music is rigorous, nuanced, accessible, and free from the dogmas of Western European concert music aesthetic. The result is seamless tête-à-tête with “textures swimming through the sound…like the world’s fastest ping-pong game” (Pitchfork) and is considered the “cutting edge of hip-hop” (Huffington Post).
Dave Rocha “Hardbop” Quintet

The Dave Rocha Hardbop Quintet has been a main fixture in the greater Bay Area jazz scene for over fifteen years. In addition to their “residency” at Cafe Van Kleef in downtown Oakland, they perform at numerous festivals, music “series” and clubs.
The quintet, consists of trumpet and tenor on the front line, with keyboard, bass and drums in the rhythm section. The band has an amazing book of “straight-ahead”, hard driving jazz compositions, mainly in the “hardbop” tradition of the 50’s and 60’s, with tunes by Cedar Walton, Wayne Shorter, Bennie Golson, Horace Silver, John Coltrane, and Miles Davis, just to name a few.
