What does your business offer and why should people check it out?
We offer fine art, paintings, photography, sculptures, culturally diverse emerging artists, mid career and established artists, bay area artists, artists from other states and other countries. We also highlight youth artists once a year.

What inspired you to start your business? Why did you choose Oakland?
To fill a void in the downtown and uptown area of Oakland, most venues are not as diverse culturally or otherwise and I felt that too many artists were being overlooked. I chose Oakland because Oakland is where I live.

What are a few of your favorite businesses in downtown Oakland? Why?
One of my favorite venues is Geoffrey’s Inner Circle because I am big on diversity and community and his venue is open to the community and he is keeping jazz alive, with his Sunday jazz concerts. The other venue is Mua Restaurant, again big on diversity and the food and the service are outstanding.

“Doing business in Oakland means being connected to the most talented people in the country. Everyone is so naturally innovative and creative. The community in Oakland comes up with solutions where there seem to be no solutions.”

Do you have any advice for people looking to start a business in Oakland?
Follow your passion, be willing to make some sacrifices, do not allow negative opinions to influence you.

What’s your favorite hidden gem in downtown Oakland? Why?
I believe that Preservation Park is a hidden gem. It seems most people forget that it is there.
